Information we collect
We collect the information described below. You can browse and discover places without creating an account.
Account information
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from the provider. You may also add or change your display name and upload a profile photo.
Location information
WhereIGo uses your precise location to show nearby places and to alert you when you are near a saved place. This can run in the foreground and, on supported devices, in the background. Location access is optional; you can turn it off anytime in your device settings.
Photos and camera
If you choose, you can add a profile picture. This requires access to your photo library or camera. Photos are only used for your profile and are not accessed for any other purpose.
Content you create
When you write a review, we collect the rating, comment, and your display name and profile picture so other explorers can see who shared it.
Usage and diagnostic data
We collect limited usage data (such as search terms, places viewed, and saved favorites) and diagnostic data (such as crash reports and performance information) through Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance. This helps us understand and improve the app. We do not sell your personal information.
Notifications
With your permission, we send push notifications about nearby places, promos, and updates. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or in the app.
How we use information
We use information to provide and improve discovery features, personalize recommendations, show nearby places, respond to requests, keep the service secure, and send relevant notifications. We do not use your information to serve targeted advertising or sell it to third parties.
Sharing and service providers
We share information only as needed to operate the service, including with our hosting and database provider Supabase, with Google Firebase for analytics, crash reporting, performance, and messaging, and with Google and Apple for sign-in. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described here. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at contact@whereigo.cc. Deleting your account removes your profile and associated data.
Your choices
You can disable location and notification permissions, skip account creation, edit or remove your profile information, and unsubscribe from non-essential messages at any time.
Children's privacy
WhereIGo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data transfers
WhereIGo is operated using services that may store data in your region or other countries. We rely on appropriate safeguards for any cross-border transfers of your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will post the updated version here and update the date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
